The country's immigration department has announced the immediate introduction of free tourist visas, reported Indian media NDTV. The countries are - India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. japan,


Earlier, Sri Lanka approved the offer of free visa to travelers from 7 countries. Ali Sabri, the country's foreign minister, gave this information on October 24.

He said that the proposal to give free visa for five months to the travelers of these seven countries - India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand has been approved.

He further informed that the free visa program has started immediately as a pilot project and will continue till March 31, 2024.

Sri Lanka's tourism ministry said the move is aimed at attracting more tourists to the country.

According to various media reports of the country citing the ministry, the number of tourists arriving in Sri Lanka is expected to increase to 50 million in the coming years.
